SUKKUR, Oct 16: The Ghotki police arrested three women, belonging to Punjab province, on the alleged charges of committing robbery in the house of a vegetable dealer, Soomar Mal, on Thursday.

The names of the women were ascertained as Mumtaz, Kajal and Zareen Gul.

Police claimed that eight women entered the house of Soomar, overpowered his family members and fled with cash and jewellry.

Police claimed that only three could be arrested as five managed to escape.

All three women are being kept in a lock-up with male prisoners.

OBJECTION: Meanwhile, social and political organizations of Ghotki have objected over keeping the women in a male lock-up saying that the women should be handed over to the women police, Larkana, if they were involved in any crime.

All the three women said that they were travelling in a bus to attend the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalander.

They said that when their bus reached Ghotki, they got off the bus as one of their children had fallen ill, and added that were going to a doctor in the Shahi Bazaar when police arrested them on the charges of robbery.

They said that they were innocent and had nothing to do with the robbery.
