Educationist dies

RAWALPINDI: Prof Farhat Ijaz Butt, a prominent educationist and social worker, died at the Fauji Foundation Hospital here on Saturday of heart complications. She was 79.

Born in 1936 in Peshawar, Prof Far­hat was one of the first women to have obtained a master’s degree from the Peshawar University. She helped esta­blish several colleges for women in KP. Prof Farhat is survived by three sons, including prominent journalist and writer Murtaza Haider.

Her funeral prayers will be offered at Westridge, Rawalpindi, on Sunday morning.
