THE Balochistan government is legally bound to reimburse the medical expenses of its employees. I am a Senior Secondary School (SST) teacher at Government High School Adampur, located in Sohbatpur.

I suffered a severe motorcycle accident on Dec 10, 2014 resulting in nine fractures and a broken jaw.

I received some basic medical help at Sohbatpur and undertook a nine-hour agonising journey to Karachi for medical treatment. I was brought to Liaquat National Hospital, Karachi, where I underwent a series of surgeries, one such operation lasting eight hours. The medical expenses incurred on the treatment were Rs 434,000.

Being a poor school teacher with six mouths to feed, I could not afford the cost of medical care and hence had to borrow money.

I applied for reimbursement of my medical expenses through proper channel; however, my file has been blocked as the worthy chief secretary has imposed a blanket ban on medical reimbursement through a notification.

As a result, I am in deep distress. I appeal to the Balochistan chief minister and the chief secretary to address my problem and reimburse my medical expenses.
