BAHAWALPUR: A bakery and a beverages factory were sealed, while various other food outlets were slapped fines by local administration under Punjab Food Authority Act, 2011 here on Monday.

Leading a raiding team, City Assistant Commissioner Rao Tasleam Akhtar sealed the Data Sweets & Bakers, Confectioners, at Seraiki Chowk for working without valid health certificate, workers not wearing hand-gloves, flies on its sweets and having a dirty floor.

Similarly, Mushtaq Soda Water Factorey, Model Town A was slapped Rs15,000 fine and was also sealed for poor sanitation and cleanliness.

The team imposed Rs50,000 fine on Grand Regency restaurant, Dubai Chowk and Rs15,000 on Four Seasons, Model Town A, for violations of hygiene rules.

Over similar violations, Rashid Bakers were slapped Rs50,000 fine, both Qureshi and Tabaq restaurants Rs10,000 fine each.

During the raids, the team recovered a total fine of more than Rs150,000.

RESCUED: The troops of the Bahawalpur Garrison shifted as many as 49,800 residents of various flood-hit areas to safer places near Chahchran Sharif and other areas during the past three days.

Garrison Commander Maj-Gen Sadiq Ali, who on Monday toured the flood-affected areas near Rahim Yar Khan and Chahchran Sharif was briefed on anti-flood measures taken by army.

According to an ISPR press release, the army detachments deployed in various flood-hit areas in the division played an active role to shift the people to safer places. It said army helicopters were also having aerial survey of the flood-affected areas.

Free medical and veterinary camps under the army supervision also functioned round the clock to provide treatment to people and their livestock.
