Minor among five killed in accidents

KARACHI, Oct 12: Five persons, including a minor, died in road accidents in the city on Sunday.

Police said that a young man died and two others were injured when a four-seater rickshaw overturned in Saudabad on Sunday. Police said that three passengers, Hina Maqsood, 19, Saima, 22 and Imran Raza, 19, were injured when the rickshaw overturned.

All the injured were taken to the JPMC, where Imran died.

In Site, a five-year-old boy was knocked down by a speeding minibus on Sunday.

Police said that Hazrat Ali was playing on the road when a speeding minibus of B-3 route knocked him down.

A traffic police official died in the limits of Sharea Faisal police station.

Police said that Syed Mohsin Saleem, 35, a sub-inspector in traffic police was hit by a taxi (JN-0750), as it went out of control after its tyre burst. The critically injured police official was shifted to the JPMC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police arrested the taxi driver identified as Qasim.

In another accident, two young motorcyclists died near PIDC House. Police said that the motorcyclists identified as Akbar and Fahimuddin were going to graveyard when a speeding truck (LSC- 2592) knocked them down on M.T. Khan Road.
