DADU: A man was sentenced to life imprisonment by a sessions court after he was found guilty of killing his sister on the pretext of Karo-kari (a custom under which a person is killed on suspicion of his/her extramarital affair).

According to the prosecution, Sajan Solangi shot dead his sister, Shazia Solangi, in the name of honour near Mullo Machhi village of Mehar taluka two years ago.

First Additional Sessions Judge at Mehar Ghulam Hussain Kolachi pronouncing his verdict said that the prosecution successfully pleaded its case. He handed life imprisonment to the accused and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs100,000. In case of default on fine money, the convict would have to undergo another six-month imprisonment, the verdict said.
