Images of warfare take centre-stage in the Saya-e-Khuda-e-Zuljalal trailer, but producers insist that the film is not just another war movie.

The film, they say, focuses on the heroes who fought in the historic wars of Pakistan. "Nothing like SKZ has ever hit the screens," they claim between a flurry of comments on the Facebook share of this new trailer.

Saya-e-Khuda-e-Zuljalal will bring to screen portrayals of real-life heroes like Major Shafqat Baloch (Asad Malik), Major Shabbir Shareef (Shaheed) (Arbaaz Khan) and Major Aziz Bhatti (Shaheed) (Kamran Mujahid).

The ensemble cast also includes Moammar Rana, Javed Sheikh, Shafqat Cheema, Firdous Jamal, Afzal Khan, Jia Ali, Noor, Rachel Gill and Nimra Khan. The cast also features many newcomers, who play the jawans of the army.

Unlike war films like 2013 hit Waar and the in-production Yalghaar, this film, which has been directed by Umair Fazli and produced by Dr Tauseef Razzaque, has not been funded by the ISPR.

The film is unofficially slated for a September 6 release.
