LAHORE: The city administration on Tuesday launched an anti-encroachment operation along Raiwind Road and demolished 47 shops for being unlawfully built at the state land.

According to a spokesman, the operation was launched by the Allama Iqbal Town Municipal Administration and it was headed by the assistant commissioner (Raiwind). The shops demolished were also built in violation of the building rules and regulations, the spokesman said.

CLEANLINESS: Field teams of the CDGL, the Lahore Waste Management Company, Wasa and Ravi Town administration early on Tuesday morning rushed to the Badami Bagh vegetable/fruit market after the local traders and people complained to the senior officials about accumulation of rainwater.

The teams cleaned the area by draining out rainwater and road levelling patches of the market. The DCO directed the teams to accomplish the cleanliness task by Wednesday afternoon (tomorrow).

On the complaint of a customer, the DCO had a vendor arrested for selling rotten fruits in the market.
