ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday submitted before the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) a modified report on 150 mega corruption cases, DawnNews reported.

Earlier on July 7, NAB officials had submitted a list before the SC as per the court’s directives. The list includes cases against high profile figures, including incumbent Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, former president, ex-premiers, ministers and top bureaucrats.

However, the court had expressed dissatisfaction over the report and had asked NAB to include two additional columns in the report for further details.

The revised list includes two more columns showing details of the dates of when the application against an individual was filed and when it was verified by the concerned officials.

Interestingly, the NAB record lacks the details of cases against some top figures, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari and former Pakistani envoy to the US Hussain Haqqani.

According to the NAB officials, dates for filing and its verification of complain against Sharif bothers are not available. The report said that direct investigation was initiated against the two brothers, after a source passed some information in this regard.

In the case against Nawaz Sharif pertaining to illegal recruitment in the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA), Maj Gen M.H. Ansari is the complainant. The complaint was filed on March 22, 1999 and direct investigation was started in the case without an enquiry.

Similarly, a case was filed against former president Asif Ali Zardari against the report of a source but NAB has no details regarding to the dates of filing complaint, enquiry and investigation in the case.

In the same manner, investigation was launched against Hussain Haqqani and Ishaq Dar on the report of a source.

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, was hearing a case filed by Manzoor Ahmed Ghauri against chairman NAB and other officials. The case, initiated earlier this year, pertains to scrutiny of the anti-corruption body.

The 45 pages report lists 50 cases each of monitory irregularities, misuse of powers and land scams. This development had also drawn criticism from several political segments which raised questions on the credibility of the entity.

The court has been adjourned and case would be heard on July 15.

This is just tip of iceberg.

zahid Jul 13, 2015 12:24pm

People should not longer remain with false hope of accountability of big fishes and corrupt rulers for they have ill gotten money to manipulate the things in their favor!

sunny Jul 13, 2015 12:25pm

Supreme Court must also took notice of indefinite load shedding scandal in which K-Electric is the main culprit .Not invested in infrastructure but rather its performance kept on deteriorating every day has passed & is solely responsible for the death of innocent people. Please take suo moto action and investigate this blood shed .

Abdulla Hussain Jul 13, 2015 12:31pm

What ever the outcome of this case the fact is that these peoples were found contaminated with corruption, the power play will come into force & most of these elite class peoples will come out clean but not in the mind of the peoples.

Naim Jul 13, 2015 12:32pm

Suppose these 150 proved and jailed

There is no doubt Pakistan will be better off from this kind of so called democrats

These are the crucks of Pakistan corrupt incompetent elite class Which no mater who is in power jeopardise and black males the very state

Nizamuddin Ahmad Aali Jul 13, 2015 12:34pm

We all know the outcome of these investigations. Disappointment and no resolution. This is all circus. I have to modify the old saying " these magicians can fool all the people all the time. "

Kamal Pasha Jul 13, 2015 12:53pm

Unless these cases are decided, all these 150 people of mega corruptions should resign from the governments.

Shan Jul 13, 2015 12:56pm

No is corrupt in Pakistan. Let's close NAB.

Yaqoob Jul 13, 2015 12:59pm

Off course until they resign like the PTI minister in KPK transparent investigations is just a wishful thinking.

Merchant Jul 13, 2015 01:01pm

There is no hope of getting justice in Pakistan because there is no justice, thanks to the corrupt "leaders" mentioned in the NAB list of corrupters.

azim Jul 13, 2015 01:07pm

Our corrupt courts at its best.

Irfan Jul 13, 2015 01:15pm

I doubt if anybody is held accountable for. its difficult to blame somebody in a hamam full of corrupt people.

Arslan Jul 13, 2015 01:24pm

A big joke and game all this. SC is part of it.

Imtiaz Piracha Jul 13, 2015 01:30pm

Whose responsibility is it to ensure that NAB, or any other national institution, is credible and is irreproachable? It is the responsibility of the government and the parliament. Paradoxically, honest and efficient institutions can be deadly for the rulers; so how can they ensure their credibility ?

khanm Jul 13, 2015 01:32pm

NAB submits revised list of mega corruption cases before SC.... very soon it would be revised again and the name of the top culprits would be removed. I don't think it should be news any more... I weep for the liberty of my country when I see at this delayed days of its futile experiment that corruption has been imputed to many members senates and assemblies, and the rights of the people have been bartered for promises of office. unfortunately our country is now taking so steady a course as to show by what road it will pass to destruction, to wit: by consolidation of power first, and then corruption, its necessary consequence.

Parvez Jul 13, 2015 01:44pm

White collar crime is always hard to prove........and the court will demand proof and there will be little proof.....so this looks another staged NRO to let the corrupt off. The sad part is that NAB lacks credibility...and the SC's record is, to be polite, not inspiring.

Ziaurrehman Jul 13, 2015 01:49pm

@Yaqoob PTI is different party with different ideology. It will do wonders if ever get a chance in center..

AK Kenya Jul 13, 2015 02:09pm

Is NAB needed when it can not fulfill its objectives? Its waste of money.

Imran Jul 13, 2015 02:17pm

All the institutions in Pakistan renounce their credibility and responsibility when it comes to high-profile figures involving in mega scandals. Unfortunately, even the low-profile cases cannot be solved due to lack of evidence or deliberate collusion. The public must benefit from social networking and media through their parties by putting pressure on them to introduce as a first step de-politicization of institutions like LEAs and accountability bodies like NAB, PAC, DAC, AGP etc coupled with a credible system that does not allow such bodies to indulge in misuse and abuse of powers. In the latest survey in China regarding corruption, more than 70% Chinese voted death penalty for corrupt elements.

ishrat salim Jul 13, 2015 02:33pm

@Kamal Pasha Name 1 responsible accused person ever resigned in Pakistan ? there is no such word like " resign" in our dictionary nor in our culture. We are a nation with no moral values or morality.

M.Saeed Jul 13, 2015 02:42pm

Immediately after assuming office of the Interior Minister, Mr. A.Rehman Malik in the company of Mr. H.Haqqani had visited FIA office Islamabad and personally removed all incriminating record pertaining to himself and his masters and ensured their permanent disappearance. The news was well reported in the media dated 12th May, 2010 but, nobody remembers now.

canpakman Jul 13, 2015 03:02pm

I already smell big crooks will be off the hook.

Irfan Jul 13, 2015 03:13pm

A corrupt can't blame other corrupt. Eventually a mukmuka is inevitable.

I. Khan Jul 13, 2015 03:14pm

All the accused on NAB list should be removed from power until their names are cleared , courts will be influenced and justice cannot be done if the accused are in power .

Muhammad Junaid Tariq Jul 13, 2015 03:15pm

@Kamal Pasha These cases were formed in last century and Mush govt in 10 yrs did not prove anything. So there is more to the story than NAB's waking up now. No need to resign.

Sab Se Pehle Pakistan Jul 13, 2015 03:16pm

Why the Sharif's and Zardari are missing from the list. Are they above the law?

usman Jul 13, 2015 03:17pm

jail them all

Khan Jul 13, 2015 03:18pm

first arrest the secretaries of the fed& prov.ministries just investigate them they will come out with the truth then only put hands on these FAT CATS !!!!

Faisal Jul 13, 2015 03:25pm

Nab List is a joke !! The main culprits who embezzled the most amount of money there names are conveniently omitted.!!! Our Supreme Court does not have the courage or power to prosecute any of them due to their power and above the law status.

kalim Jul 13, 2015 03:29pm

Now should conduct proper action against all these :P

Emad Jul 13, 2015 03:29pm

Why do ppl vote for these parties and then complain?

Asif Kamil Jul 13, 2015 03:40pm

Only country in the world who president , prime ministers and top government officials are involved in mega corruption and ruling the country . What a bad Oman for people of Pakstan . Worst part army also meeting them . Sad sad story

G.Nabi Jul 13, 2015 03:41pm

This will fizzle out in next month or so just like Zardari's Swiss Bank case.

AKeenReader Jul 13, 2015 03:42pm

@usman .. that's the problem with pakistani politics. We haven't sent a single politician in jail thus they know how to fool the public time & time again. Those who want to change pakistani politics for good are stopped by pakistanis themselves by letting them fooled by corrupt politicians for decades.

responsible Jul 13, 2015 03:52pm

How these corrupt people become our rulers. is it due to lack of injustice in society or corruption in the society. The parties shall be banned.

azi Jul 13, 2015 03:52pm

WOW....Just within a week the NAB took a U turn against the most corrupt of all.....I again Reiterate ; what Imran Khan said , That even the NAB is full of corruption, Thinking about it : when a customs officer can be murdered in his house over half a million dollar that would expose the culprit in that country .How can we expect NAB to take action against these kinds of criminals. However the judges can't see that these politicians names are missing in the second report...come on wake up Pakistan, now or never...Demand military courts, we can't tryst NAB or our Judicial system to end all this only and only our army can.

i4ni Jul 13, 2015 03:52pm

Not guilty until proven. Why NAB has been dragging its feet for last 15 years. It should complete its investigations and punish the culprits instead of using these cases for arm twisting of the politicians. And where are the cases of the Ministers in Musharraf Cabinet?. SC court should ask the NAB to submit the report on plea bargain deals and in the process how many billions were lost.

NAB should develop some credibility and transparency for it before even thinking of trying some big names.

Balouch Jul 13, 2015 03:58pm

I am a Pakistani and I am a victim of corruption. I severely hate our politicians. They don't deserve to live in this country any more. Please join hands to throw them out. Let us bring them to ruthless justice.

Daud Jul 13, 2015 04:01pm

There are many question marks on the performance and partiality of NAB itself as those who are sitting in this institute have had political relation. Unfortunately the system of accountability in our society is very weak and it works only against small fish because the big culprits take advantage of their power and money. Even whenever Army has come in power it gave the advantages to it's allies corrupt-politicians and favorite-bearucrates

Uzair Ameen Jul 13, 2015 04:01pm

NAB Will Make Them Confess. . InshAllah

berni Jul 13, 2015 04:02pm

Are there NABs in advanced countries? No, the ordinary police takes care of such cases such as FBI in USA. Shut down NAB.

Changez_Khan Jul 13, 2015 04:02pm

All corrupt politicians.

chachakirkit Jul 13, 2015 04:29pm

We need to have a comprehensive national anti graft plan. NAB is a dead horse.

M. Siddique Jul 13, 2015 04:30pm

Something fishy here. Is NAB under pressure to avoid providing details?

Zaki Jul 13, 2015 04:40pm

Truly disappointed now. Like Imran Khan said, these status quo parties can't do any accountability of their own kinds. Proud of KPK NAB and what Imran Khan did there for accountability.

Naeem Syed Jul 13, 2015 04:41pm

This is again an opportunity for the Supreme Court to establish its sole role as a source of accountability of the excesses by the Executive branch of the Government. Judicial review and a legal redress for the masses is a separate issue. This three member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, has the authority to get the NAB to do its job in prosecuting these big names, but if as always it lacks the soul and the blind eyes of Justice these guys will getaway with it. For once please do the right thing and go down in posterity as the Judges who did the right thing and put the country back on an even keel. If you don't the God have mercy on your Souls because rest assured there is an accountability Bureau there.

Khalid Jul 13, 2015 04:43pm

Let us have a referrundum and find out if ANYONE in Pakistan trusts those in the picture!. How about that?.

cmh Jul 13, 2015 04:46pm

Topi drama. They will get a clean chit except small offenders.

sami ullah Jul 13, 2015 04:51pm

Well well, NAB is nothing just like a game..A good effort by mushartaf regime, but if for example it has been implemented then what happened to politics.. They all are corrupt and only concern to their own business not for the people of Pakistan...

Faisal Afzal Jul 13, 2015 05:05pm

NAB is playing delay tactics again. How do they not know the dates when inquiries were submitted?

shamoon Jul 13, 2015 05:21pm

When PPP were in power they blame the PML(N) likewise the PML is now saying corruption scandals against the PPP so no need of any investigation. These have information of each one. Now let see what the supreme court decides. PRAY FOR GOOD IN THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMAZAN FOR THE MOTHERLAND.

Dr Ahmad - Melbourne Jul 13, 2015 05:32pm

A national government of competent professionals backed and supported by Pakistan Army for next 5 years is the only solution. Democracy in Pakistan means corruption and loot maar.

Malik Jul 13, 2015 05:45pm

Who is going to investigate COAS?

Aurangzeb Jul 13, 2015 05:52pm

You can see what direction country is heading , God help poor!

Seedoo Jul 13, 2015 05:59pm

Looks like NAB needs to be itself investigated, for incompetnce if not for corruption

Syed Ali Jul 13, 2015 06:15pm

@Shan; I have been harping on this for quite sometime; if there are corrupt institutions then fix them or ban them because they are not performing their duties. Case in point arrest of over one hundred constables for extortion for various crimes, but not a single high ranking person of Karachi police was charged tells that ruling class has setup their cauldron.

Syed Ali Jul 13, 2015 06:17pm

@Arslan I think, people should boycott election or do "Dharna".

Syed Ali Jul 13, 2015 06:27pm

@Sab Se Pehle Pakistan They represents the two largest political parties of Pakistan. Most of the commentators have already opined all Pakistani institutions are corrupt.

Syed Ali Jul 13, 2015 06:28pm

@khanm well said.

neutral Jul 13, 2015 06:36pm

And our nation will select again in future. Outcome of stupid nation

Syed Ali Jul 13, 2015 06:39pm

@Malik God works in mysterious ways; history tell us many "one Men" saved their countries, Mustafa Kamal of Turkey, leader of Singapore; Chiang Kai check of Taiwan, Mahatar of Malaysia. May be Pakistan will get one too.

N. Jul 13, 2015 07:09pm

Sir, It is very interesting. These men have all the powers in their hands. So the decision is done. NOT GUILTY.

Cyrus Jul 13, 2015 07:13pm

@Fairplay .... The tip of the iceberg and Pakistan is the Titanic.

Cyrus Jul 13, 2015 07:16pm

@Naim .. Incompetent. That rang my bell.

Cyrus Jul 13, 2015 07:26pm

@Yaqoob ... Only one province can be cleaned up at one time. We all know which one is first on the schedule. So the people of Pakistan must stop these salaried politicians from perpetually shuffling the national deck of cards.

Syed Ahmed, Canada Jul 13, 2015 07:27pm

@Fairplay: Unfortunately these people are Pakistan's President, Prime Minister, and Pakistan's Ambassador, yet Pakistan is on the world map though truncated. It is high time that they must be put on the mat and the robbed money is fully recovered from them.

Shehz Jul 13, 2015 07:35pm

Complete the investigation, arrest them, then get them into plea bargaining; immunity in place for them leaving the country and never participating in politics ever again. Make the agreement public.

For those who do not take the offer, convict and sentence them accordingly. Transparency will guarantee deterrence for flip-flop ambiguities; eliminate he said she said and not as per constitution returns of the corrupt - leaving no room for future NROs.

Sarwar, USA Jul 13, 2015 07:51pm

All those in the corruption list should resign from the office to face charges like KPK minister.

KeyPoints Jul 13, 2015 07:51pm

How convenient, it says 'dates for filing and its verification of complain against Sharif bothers are not available'. Similarly, more details for case against Asif Zardari was not available. Great job NAB. For little guys all details become available & his property is confiscated, fined or thown in the jail. However for big guys, just use your 'imagination'. That is true 'monarchy', oops, I mean to say true 'democracy'. Wonder what department I am talking about? Its not No-Action-Board (NBA).

ali Jul 13, 2015 08:11pm

NAB is a toothless organization without any muscles to try the lower level crooks only.It is scared to try the heavyweights as such this organization is a waste of time and money.

Ali Jul 13, 2015 08:15pm

What will be the outcome of this activity, I wonder.. A new committee would be setup to investigate..

No one will be held accountable of their wrong doings, no one will be punished, instead the next generation of these pharaohs will become our leaders.. Pity..

M Jamal Jul 13, 2015 08:30pm

None of the big corrupt fishes are from MQM but sorry to say all the guns and news coverage towards MQM as they are the main spoiler.May be one day the up country people will recognise the game played by the current powerful.

Cyrus Jul 13, 2015 08:46pm

@Syed Ali .... If the fed up don't vote all the same people will be elected.

Cyrus Jul 13, 2015 08:53pm

@Balouch .... One at a time. One at a time is the only possible method. The bigger they are the harder they fall. They are protected by people who don't want to lose their jobs. Read the book The Great Wall Street Scandal, by Raymond Dirks for a look inside at the workings of a corrupt institution.

asad Jul 13, 2015 09:01pm

nothing will happen, I bet!!

Khizr Jul 13, 2015 09:05pm

People need to punish these parties at the poll too, by not voting for them. Why do we re-elect them?

Muhammad Ali Jul 13, 2015 09:23pm

It is just to show that all departments are independent and working well. In the end nothing will happen to all the culprits. If there is any justice, they should be banned from politics and all the assets should be taken into government custody. which will, obviously, don't happen in Pakistan!

MAlvi Jul 13, 2015 09:36pm

What will the Supreme Court do in this matter? History shows that no one can do any thing about the big fish. Even Musharraf did not do any thing. He forgave them and they came back to put him in jail, for nothing.

imran Jul 13, 2015 11:03pm

As expected. The concept of accountability is dead and buried in Pakistan.

Imran A. Jul 14, 2015 01:37am

I mean these guys are so rich... why do they need to steal more money? It's a mental disease.

Kautiliya Jul 14, 2015 01:47am

Army should take over and deal with their quick trial Court for now.

Patariot Pakistani Jul 14, 2015 01:53am

Are they blind or what!!!!!

In what business or politics you increase your wealth 10000% in a span of two decades? I'm interested to know from them.

Desi Jul 14, 2015 04:19am

This is all just waste of time and tax payers money. Nothing will come out of this and life of elite will continue to go on

Euro Jul 14, 2015 04:49am

Politicians are more hated then pharaoes of the old. The pharaoes atleast gave food to the poor so they could survive another day in slavery. Our politicians has left us to die in heat, thirst, hunger and terrorism.

shakeelshahhussaini@gmail.com Jul 14, 2015 05:27am

We are not surprised at all with the previous as well as new developnents pertaining to mega corruption cases sumbitted with apex court. History replete with such episodes surfaced and then disappeared. Anyway a little hope can be associated with existing leadership of army and some welwishers, that may mount pressure to courts, and other relevent institutes including media in order to reach its logical conclusion. Let's see.. what next to this development..

Adi Jul 14, 2015 05:31am

Well we can complain all day about having currupt leaders but i guess we need to look inwards as well as we as a nation are currupt from top to bottom. Peons, clerks, teachers (nurturing their own tution centres), doctors (come to my clinic in evening), lawyers(misleading own clients for extending cases), even ordinary citizens offering immediate bribe to traffic constables instead of facing a challan. We are a nation of hoarders, profiteers , looters, religious exploiters and what not...so the BEST among the crowd become our leaders.

Adi Jul 14, 2015 05:36am

And PTI is just a brand for no curruption. How can you expect to work against curruption by bringing in all currupt turncoats under your folds...PTI wants the power at all costs , seems like they have learnt the electoral politics as moral grounds can make you a leader but not a prime minister....otherwise Asghar khan would have been a premier long time back.

Adi Jul 14, 2015 05:43am

@Naim
Dont you think we have millions of currupts in our nation who are eager to replace those 150 !
