ACCIDENTS are a common occurrence in Pakistan. The situation becomes more critical when we try to help the victims of a mishap but we are ignorant about the course of action that should be adopted.

Stricken by sympathy, many good samaritans want to rescue the victims of an accident but the result, often, is disastrous because of the helpers’ ignorance of first aid.

Students are considered the future of a nation. They are the most energetic section in society and the first to respond to any call for help. I suggest they should be taught how to face emergencies and how to bring relief to the suffering.

It is the need of the hour to include first aid knowledge in the curriculum. The teachers should also be trained as how to conduct first aid. This measure will help us save some precious lives.
