GUJRANWALA: Police foiled an alleged terrorist attempt and killed a suspected terrorist who had entered a stadium, recovering a suicide jacket and arms from the deceased's possession, according to DawnNews.

Two suspected terrorists had entered a stadium located at Sheikhupura road in Gujranwala. Police reports later confirmed that one suspect was killed in an encounter while the other managed to escape.

According to City Police Officer (CPO) Waqas Nazeer, police received a tip off that two terrorists had entered the city in order to attempt a terrorist attack on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali.

A targeted search operation was ordered to locate and arrest the suspects, who tried to flee the city and entered a nearby stadium.

When police acted to arrest the terrorists, one of them tried to explode his suicide jacket which did not go off. Police shot him dead on the spot, said the city police chief. “However, the second suspect managed to escape.”

A bomb disposal squad was then called in to clear the area.
