RAWALPINDI: More than 341 students of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi on Saturday received laptops under Prime Minister Laptop Scheme and Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) Scholarship.

PML-N Senator Raja Zafarul Haq was the chief guest on the occasion. Arid university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, faculty members and a large number of students were also present.

In a ceremony, a total of 341 laptops and internet devices, provided by Higher Education Commission (HEC) and 172 fully funded PEEF Scholarship card were distributed among students of undergraduates and postgraduates of different degree programmes of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Raja Zafarul Haq said students were the future of the nation and present government had taken revolutionary steps to develop education sector.

He said it was the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who wanted to provide all required facilities to the students so that they could devote themselves fully to education and became proud Pakistanis.

He said the government was working hard to provide opportunities to the talented but needy students to fulfill their dreams and aspirations and become partner in the development and welfare of country.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad said morally the laptops & PEEF scholarships holders were bound to become change agent in the society and take the country to new heights.

He said that not a single laptop and PEEF scholarship had been awarded out of merit.
