HYDERABAD, Oct 8: Women councillors of Naushahro Feroze district have declared

that the new local government system has failed and the government should accept its failure and restore the old one.

This was observed at a women councillors’ conference organized by the Citizens’ Action Committee for women’s rights at Naushahro Feroze on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the councillor, Union Council Naushahro Feroze, Naseem Umrani, said that with the introduction of the new system the people’s problems had multiplied while the masses were getting no relief.

Jamila Javed of Union Council Mehrabpur said that the representatives of local bodies had become powerless as they were compelled to observe hunger strikes and launch protest for the transfer of a teacher.

Ms Shahzadi, a councillor of Union Council Phul, said the system had failed even to maintain sanitation in the towns. Ms Naureen of Union Council Moro said that female councillors were not called in the council meetings.
