SAHIWAL: Renowned stage actress Khushboo was injured, while her brother Javed died in a road accident on Tuesday morning.

A witness said a van carrying eight people, including Sobia alias Khushboo, her fellow actresses and family members, rammed into a truck from the rear side near 132/9-L village on the Lahore-Multan Motorway in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The passengers were returning from the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar at Sehwan Sharif.

Khushboo’s brother Javed was driving the van when it hit the truck. Four of the eight on board were critically injured. Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to the DHQ Hospital.

Rescue sources said the accident happened as the driver dozed off. Injured Khushboo was referred to Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital. The remaining injured included Ahmed, Mahnoor and Bushra.

Jinnah Hospital sources confirmed Khushboo had been discharged later on Tuesday.
