LAHORE: Taking notice on a complaint filed by the Lahore Region Cricket Association (LRCA), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued show-cause notices to five of its coaches, working with different regions, for setting up their own academy in Lahore.

Sources told Dawn that five coaches namely Sajjad Akbar, Shahid Anwar, (both ex-ODI players) Javed Hayat, Kamran Khan and Bilal Ahmad (all three ex-first-class cricketers) have set up a joint academy at the Ali Garh Cricket Ground, Model Town C and D blocks here.

They are charging Rs10,000 for each nets session.

The complaint further said that the players were assured of a place in a regional team if they joined the academy.

The LRCA said the coaches were not allowed to set up their own academy when they were being paid by the PCB.
