PESHAWAR, Oct 12: The NWFP Governor, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, on Friday stressed the need for collective efforts for the solidarity and integrity of Pakistan, saying that every citizen should work above personal interests for the progress of the country.

“Our thinking and perceptions should reflect that the whole nation stands united in the face of difficulties,” he said in a statement issued here.

The governor said that the country was passing through a critical situation, which had enhanced its citizens’ responsibilities.

“We should uphold the national interests supreme, keeping in view the current scenario and ensure unanimity of perceptions in national affairs,” he observed.

“Being Pakistanis, we should review our acts and examine whether these are in consonance with the national interest and consequently mould it as the present situation demanded,” the governor said.

He urged the people to forge unity in their ranks and strive collectively for the progress and prosperity of the country.

While referring to the role of individuals in the rebuilding of nations, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah said, “we should not forget that we are the people who have been endowed with the highest level of character by our forefathers, therefore, our acts should also reflect the same greatness.
