Man awarded 17-year RI by ATC

MARDAN, Oct 7: The Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced an accused to 17 years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs20,000 for molesting a child.

Aziz Gul, a resident of Shahbaz Garhi village, had allegedly sexually molested a teenaged boy some four months back.

A case was lodged against him with the Shahbaz Garhi police on May 21. The case was referred to ATC, which completed the trial in one month and pronounced its judgment on Tuesday.

The accused was sentenced to undergo 17 years rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs20,000 as fine.

The convict will also have to pay Rs50,000 to the victim’s family as compensation. In case he failed to pay the fine, he will undergo a further six months imprisonment.
