ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar anno­unced a series of incentives for the farming community in his speech in the National Assembly to wind-up the federal budget for 2015-16.

The measures announced by the government were tax holiday for agricultural delivery chain, income tax exemption on Halal meat production plants, minimum tax exemption for rice mills for the year 2015, subsidy on phosphate and potash fertilisers, reduction of sales tax on pesticides, sales tax reduction to 7 per cent on import and local supply of agricultural machinery and equipment.

The others measures included reduction of custom duty, sales tax and withholding tax on import of agricultural machinery in aggregate from 43pc to 9pc, reduction of duties on poultry, and interest-free loans for solar tube wells.
