KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Tuesday released details of accused criminals detained during a raid at the Sunni Tehreek headquarters.

The Rangers’ spokesperson issued the names of accused ST activists along with a charge-sheet.

Rangers had raided the Sunni Tehreek headquarters on June 17 and arrested several activists. Later on June 22, Rangers took into custody the two central leaders of the party, who had approached Rangers headquarters for the release of the detained activists.

A total of 11 men were arrested during the raid, of which eight are wanted for murder cases and the rest are accused of serious crimes, including extortion and street crimes, the statement said.

According to the Rangers’ report, Muhammad Alam alias Baba was wanted in 15 murder cases. He is believed to be involved in armed clashes with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), said the report. He was also accused of extortion and land grabbing.

Muhammad Jawwad Qadri alias Waja has been accused of 14 murders and collection of extortion activities in Lyari in alliance with the gangs of Uzair Baloch.

Zubair Ali was wanted in 13 killings and three attempted murder cases. He was also involved in street crimes, extortion and abduction cases, said the report.

Muhammad Sulam alias Mirchi was alleged for involvement in 11 killing cases, besides kidnapping for ransom, extortion and torching properties.

Muhammad Akram alias Akarmi Kala was wanted in seven cases of murder, extortion and aerial firing.

Farhan alias Papa was involved in six murders, extortion and armed clashes with MQM, said the report, adding that he had been jailed during 2008 to 2010 for murder.

Shakeel Ahmed alias Fauji was also involved in target killing, the report said. He was also allegedly involved in extortion, torching vehicles and aerial firing.

Muhammad Arif alias Mashoori, Imran Saadi alias Noorani and Muhammad Noorul Aalam were allegedly involved in extortion and forcefully receiving Zakat.

Muhammad Rizwan alias Guddu was wanted in a murder case. He was also involved in illegal power connections syndicate and was also the in charge of the party’s arsenal.
