DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 23: Latifullah Ali Zai, District Nazim, Dera Ismail Khan, has said that as a result of the local bodies system, an era of prosperity and development would usher in the country.

He lauded the Afghan policy of the government, saying it was in the right direction and best national interest.

In a statement, the district Nazim said the bold and realistic stand of President Pervez Musharraf had saved the country from crisis and all political and national parties fully supported the view of the government.

Mr Latifullah condemned the Indian threats, and accused it of deviating attention from the just struggle of the Kashmiri people. He said the whole nation stood like a rock with the government to meet any challenge.

He said the new local government system was the need of the hour under which masses had been involved in the government. Now masses’ problems would be solved in a better manner, he said, adding this system would gain more strength with the passage of time.

The district Nazim said that it was for the first time that local resources would be utilized for the welfare of the people by their representatives and basic amenities of life would be provided at their doorsteps.

Expressing his satisfaction over its working, the Nazim said the District Council of Dera was working efficiently. He said each of us should work for the betterment of the people and stop interfering in others’ matters.

He said that with the completion of Gomal Zam Dam, a vast area of land would also be brought under cultivation in Dera and Tank, besides helping in controlling hill torrents. —APP
