KALAYA, Dec 23: Five people were kidnapped over an old dispute involving two tribes of the Orakzai Agency here on Sunday.

The elders of the aggrieved tribe have given three days to the political administration to recover the kidnapped people, or else they would act against the kidnappers’ tribe.

It is believed that some inaccessible parts of the Orakzai Agency bordering Afghanistan have become safe havens for outlaws and criminals.

KILLER’S HOUSES BURNT: A tribal Lashkar (legion) of Orakzai Agency burnt four houses of a killer in the Ferozkhel area who had shot dead a woman of a rival tribe in a dispute over water a couple of days back.

The Lashkar took punitive action against one Lal of the Banda village of Ferozkhel area for violating a tribal ban on bloodshed in the agency. The heavy fine was, however, waived on the appeal of the Ferozkhel tribe.

Some 18 tribes of the Orakzai Agency have entered into an agreement to award deterrent punishments to murderers in their areas ranging from demolishing the killer’s house to heavy fine, and even exile.
