Councillor-elect of ANP shot dead

CHARSADDA: A councillor-elect of Awami National Party and one of his friends were killed when unidentified assailants opened fire on their vehicle in Shabqadar area of Charsadda late on Tuesday night.

Police said that Attaul Haq, councillor-elect of Kaladher village council of Ghunda Karkana union council, was going in his van along with his friends, Abdullah and Jan Alam, to Kaladhera when the attackers opened indiscriminate fire on them. As a result, Attaul Haq died on the spot, while Abdullah and Jan Alam were seriously injured. They were shifted to a hospital in the area where Abdullah also succumbed to his injuries.

In another incident, unidentified attackers gunned down a man in Shabqadar on Tuesday night. Sources said that the victim, Habib Ahmad, was going along with his brother Mushtaq Ahmad to a mosque near their house when they came under attack. As a result, Habib was killed on the spot.

The Shabqadar police station has registered a case on the complaint of Mr Mushtaq against unidentified attackers.
