Delhi law minister arrested for fake law degree

NEW DELHI: Police say they have arrested the New Delhi state law minister for allegedly holding a fake degree in law and registering as an attorney in the Indian capital.

Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat says Jitendra Singh Tomar was arrested Tuesday and faces charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy and forging documents.

If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.

According to Bhagat, Tomar says he obtained a law degree from a university in Bihar state, but police found it to be fake.

Several Indian politicians, including some in the governing Bharatiya Janata Party, face similar charges. Tomar belongs to the Aam Admi Party, or Common Man Party, formed by anti-corruption crusader Arvind Kejriwal.

The AAP won a massive victory in elections in New Delhi earlier this year.

The University has said he was a bonafide student and his degree is genuine. Search Google and you will find it. The real reason for arrest is that Arvind Kejriwal has initiated cases of corruption against Modi's corrupt friend. Its a Vengeance of Modi govt.

What to say, what is right and what is wrong. He will be facing charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy and forging documents. The same old gimmicks of this sub-continent. So, the rest of the lot are not cheater and criminal in this part of the world???

A significant number of corrupt people have reportedly infiltrated into AAP as MLAs, but don't know if Mr.Tomar is one of them. However he does seem to have his have own set of standalone credentials- the wrong ones I mean!

@SULTAN AHMED ..but the affidavit filed by both the colleges (one from which he says that he took B.Sc and other from where he impies he took LLB ) both denied having issued him any such certificates to him. Plus records show that he was out the 2nd in his B.Sc and the roll. no he holds in his LLB sheet has been zeroed down in others name( both documents where being presented in court)
