LANDI KOTAL: Repatriation of thousands of displaced families of Shalobar tribe of Bara will begin today (Monday), local administration officials said on Sunday.

They said that the repatriation of Shalobar families would be concluded on June 20 under the second phase of repatriation of all displaced families of Bara which commenced on March 20.

The Khyber Agency political administration had earlier announced to start the return of Shalobar tribe from June 2 but had to postpone the plan due to unspecified reasons.

According to the new plan, the Meeran Khel, Salman Khel and Iran Khel sub-tribes of Shiekhmal Khel tribe would go back to their homes from June 8 to June 10, while Mutman Khel, Peer Lal Khel and Koe Khel sub-tribes of Wandgari tribe would be sent back from June 11 to 13.

Officials said that from June 15 to June 17 the three sub-tribes of Dray Plara would be repatriated, while in the last three days till June 20 all the non-Shalobar families residing in the area would go back to their homes.

They said that as per the plan every returning family would be given Rs10,000 for transportation through a mobile SIM card, while a cash assistance of Rs25,000 would be given to every family on their return.

The Khyber Agency political administration has also started a survey of the damages caused to houses in Shalobar area in order to pay compensation to the affected families.
