Raheel meets Sri Lankan army chief

RAWALPINDI: Army chief Gen Raheel Sharif, who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka, went to the army headquarters on Saturday and called on Commander of Sri Lankan army, Lt Gen A.W.J.C. De Silva.

On arrival at the army headquarters, Gen Raheel was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Sri Lankan army, said an ISPR press release. Later, he was given a briefing on operational and training aspects of the army.

Gen Raheel discussed with the Sri Lankan army chief matters of professional interest and ways and means of enhancing bilateral defence ties with particular reference to mutually benefitting from each other’s experience in fighting terrorism. Gen De Silva praised Pakistan army for its professionalism and successes in Operation Zarb-i-Azb against terrorism.
