LAHORE, Oct 4: Crossings at the lower ends of slopes of the Garhi Shahu Railway Bridge and Dharampura Canal Level Crossing expose motorists to the risk of accidents.

Accidents occur at the crossing provided at the foot of the Garhi Shahu Railway Bridge when the vehicles coming out of the Railway Colony are hit by the fast moving traffic rushing down the bridge. The crossing is situated in front of the road entering the Railway Colony between the Garhi Shahu Chowk on the Allama Iqbal Road and the railway bridge, and no signal has been provided to stop the traffic coming down the bridge to facilitate the vehicles leaving the Railway Colony. Some fatal accidents are reported to have occurred at this crossing.

The crossings on slopes on both sides of the Dharampura Railway Level Crossing are also dangerous. Motorists have to apply brakes to stop the vehicles coming down the dangerous slopes when signals turn red.

The Allama Iqbal Road crosses the Canal Bank Road over the canal bridge at one side of the slope and the road linking the Upper Mall Scheme and Sunder Das Road crosses the canal bank road on the other.
