According to details of one of the cases, a bank cashier Majeed Sajid in connivance with vault cashier Mohammad Saleem used to set aside a sizable amount from the cash received from customers instead of depositing the money in their accounts.

The bank management came to know about the fraudulent practice when Mr Sajid was transferred as Rs1m was found missing from the bank accounts.

The bank management held the vault cashier responsible for the missing amount and a complaint was lodged with NAB.

The NAB conducted an inquiry and arrested both the suspects. The bureau recovered the embezzled amount under the plea bargain, the Section 25 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
