QUETTA, Oct 3: Rojhan Jamali was rocked by a powerful bomb explosion in the village’s boys school on Friday.

“It was a powerful explosion and the device was planted at the gate of the school in Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali’s village,” a police officer said and added that no causality was reported.

The bomb went off at around 2.25pm when the school was closed. An eight-feet deep ditch was formed due to the blast, sources said.

A police team led by the deputy inspector-general, special branch, had been sent to Rojhan for investigating the incident and reviewing the security arrangements in the township, an official said.

According to reports, the gate and the boundary wall of the school collapsed and the windowpanes and doors of the nearby houses and buildings were smashed.

“I was sitting in my house after the Friday prayers when the powerful explosion jolted the township,” a resident of Rojhan Jamali told this correspondent.

Officials of the district administration, police and other law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and started investigation. The village has been handed over to the law enforcement agencies, who were not allowing anybody to enter it.

Contingents of the law enforcement agencies have been sent to strengthen security measures in the village.
