LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) head Maulana Fazalur Rehman called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Saturday.

Matters of mutual interest, political situation and other affairs were discussed during the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz said the government was taking along all political parties on matters of national importance. He said serious steps were being taken to cope with the challenges.

He said terrorists had been hit hard by the army in Zarb-i-Azb operation and vigorous implementation of the national action plan was under way. He said terrorism and extremism would be eliminated through the power of unity of the nation.

Meanwhile, talking to elected representatives of various districts, Shahbaz said Pakistan was facing the challenges like terrorism and energy crisis and the government was making round-the-clock efforts for resolving them.

He said the entire nation was determined to rid the country of the menace of terrorism.

He also took notice of the collapse of the roof of a school in Basti Aliwala, Multan, and sought a report from the schools education secretary.

He also directed the Multan commissioner and the district coordination officer to accelerate the relief activities and best treatment facilities should be provided to injured teachers and students.
