TIMERGARA: Lower Dir Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Suhail Khan and in charge of the district monitoring unit Kashmir Khan on Saturday said that there was no ghost school in the district and that 88 per cent attendance of teachers in state run schools had been ensured through the independent monitoring unit.

Addressing a meeting of education officers at the DC Jirga Hall in Balambat here, they said so far 23 teachers had been sent home on forced retirement while services of 26, including eight female teachers, had been terminated on their long absence from duties.

They said Rs2.3 million had also been recovered from the terminated teachers.

The meeting was informed that attendance of teachers and students had been improved after the establishment of independent monitoring unit. It was noted that Lower Dir was the only district in KP having achieved 88 per cent attendance of teachers and students in government schools.

Meanwhile, Suhail Khan on Saturday promoted 20 officials of the Dir Levies. He made the announcement while addressing a function at Levies Fort in Chakdara the other day.

QWP, PPP ALLIANCE: Qaumi Watan Party leader Bakht Baidar Khan has said the two party alliances of QWP and PPP in Adenzai tehsil would prove a positive step towards development of the area.

He was addressing a public meeting in Chakdara in connection with party’s election campaign.

PPP leader Dr Zakirullah, the two party alliance candidate for district council, Mohammad Zada Gul, and tehsil council, Amanullah, also addressed the gathering.

They said the QWP and the PPP had formed the alliance in the larger interest of the people in Chakdara and other wards of Adenzai.
