SUKKUR, Oct 2: At least 45,000 acres land of Sindh has been damaged by the effluent from factories of Bahwalpur district.

The government of Punjab had constructed a drain to carry out the effluent of industries which is emptying into Sindh near Khenjo and Noor Pir Ghotki district.

The polluted water has rendered lands barren and growers could not cultivate their lands due to salinity.

Worst affected areas are Khenjo, Deh Mangro, Deh Porh, Deh Setaro, and Gajar. Moreover, underground sweet water has also been turned to brackish.

Reports said the area people had been compelled to drink the polluted water and they were suffering from stomach and skin diseases.

At least 150 cattle heads have died into swamps made by the effluent at different places.

KILLED: A man was killed and another injured when a tractor trolley hit a motorcycle on the National Highway near Moro on Thursday.

According to details, a senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, Moro chapter, Ghulam Qadir Leghari, was on his way to Moro with a friend, Hassan Mallah, on a motorcycle when a tractor trolley hit them.

As a result, Ghulam Qadir Leghari was killed on the spot while Hassan Mallah was injured and shifted to a Nawabshah hospital.

The Moro police have seized the tractor trolley whereas the driver managed to flee. The police is reported to be hunting for the driver.

detainees: A raid Commissioner of Sindh High Court raided Thari Mirwah police station of Khairpur district and recovered two illegal detainees on Wednesday.

He asked the SHO of the police station to appear in the the court with relevant record.

Earlier, Manzoor filed an application in the court, stating that the police had illegally detained his two relatives, Rashid Ahmed and Alif Khan.

On this, the court appointed an official as the raid commissioner.

PROTEST: Hundreds of residents of Moro took out a protest procession against Hesco on Wednesday.

The procession, passing through different localities, reached at the press club.

Speaking on the occasion, Comrade Saleem Rajput, Ashraf Leghari and others said that the atrocities of Hesco were on the rise and the SDO was insulting the consumers.

They demanded that the SDO should politely behave with the consumers threatening otherwise protest against him would continue.
