Bukhsh and Essa slam golden goals

KARACHI, Oct 1: Lal Bukhsh and Essa Khan blasted home golden goals to guide KPT and PTCL into the semifinals of the President PFF Cup football in Quetta on Wednesday.

Lal Bukhsh struck in the 21st minute of the extra time after being set up by Asif Ayub to help overcome HBL.

Earlier during the regulation time, KPT led the first half with Asif slamming home a defence-splitting pass from Ghulam Farooq in the 32nd minute.

However, their relentless efforts finally paid off as substitute striker Abdul Qayyum rounded up KPT goalkeeper Abdul Ghani and levelled in the 71st minute after some hard work by Jawaid Ahmad.

PTCL sent defending champions ABL packing with a Essa golden goal in the very first minute of extra time’s first half.

Both the sides failed to produce goals in the stipulated time as PTCL squandered several opportunities through Essa, Zahid Hameed and Adeel Ahmad.

ABL goalkeeper Noman Ibraheem also excelled by bringing off three stunning saves. However, the bankers’ forward-line could not give PTCL goalkeeper Amjad Rafiq a tough time.

Essa eventually brought joy for PTCL when he slotted home a right wing cross from Adeel.

Thursday’s fixtures:

Quarterfinals: Wapda v Pakistan Navy at 12.30pm; Pakistan Army v Khan Research Laboratories at 2.30pm.
