SAHIWAL: Around 60 cases have so far been registered against chemists during a drive against the sale of substandard and spurious medicines or drugs without doctor’s prescription.

This was stated by MPA Adnan Farid, vice chairman of Chief Minster Special Task Force on Drugs, while talking to the media at the office of district coordination officer (DCO) on Sunday.

Mr Adnan said the task force had conducted raids in the jurisdiction of the Yousafwala Police Station and arrested one Saifur Rehman who had 2,500 such injections as were used by addicts.

He said action had been taken against Rehman under the DRAP Act 2012.

The briefing was attended by the district coordination officer and district police officer and executive district officer (health).

ELECTROCUTED: A lineman, who was electrocuted in Pakpattan on Saturday, died at the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.

Muhammd Iqbal was working on a powerhouse feeder when he got electrocuted.

He was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Pakpattan. The doctors referred him to the Jinnah Hospital Lahore but he could not recover and died at noon.
