KARACHI: At least two children were killed and two others were injured when a water tanker ran over them in Karachi's Orangi Town on Monday.

Eyewitnesses said the four children had left a madrassa in Orangi Town's Khairabad area when a water tanker knocked them over.

Initial reports suggested the children had been playing cricket.

Two children, who suffered skull fractures, died on the spot while two others were injured severely.

Rescue teams reached the site of accident and shifted the casualties to a hospital. The injured children were reported to be in critical condition.

The children, who are reported to be between the ages of 10 and 15, could not be identified immediately.

The driver of the tanker fled after the incident, and the tanker was impounded by the police.
