THIS September it will be 50 years since the 1965 war. Why don’t we start a big campaign to celebrate 50 years of it in a big way? Tell the country about the great sacrifices of the armed forces and the people, especially in the present times of turmoil in the country so that a new spirit of selfless service is renewed.

I suggest including air time on TV, radio, space in newspapers to recall sacrifices made 50 years ago. TV and newspapers can also air and print talks/interviews of those who participated in the war, their families, children, and civilians affected. The West is celebrating 100 years of World War I this year with lots of informative programmes for the younger generation. These programmes are for reminding the people of the difficult times and the sacrifices of the people and armed forces.

Our people deserve something better and more to remind them of the solidarity at that time and the sacrifice they made for each other, and look after the poor and neglected in the country.
