ISLAMABAD: The contractual employees and teachers of the Workers Welfare Board, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday held a protest demonstration and sit-in in front of the Central Secretariat of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for the regularisation of their services.

The protesters chanted slogans against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and KP minister Shah Farman and held them responsible for not regularising them.

Addressing the protesting employees, Younus Marwat said they had been protesting in front of Imran Khan’s residence for the last 18 days but the PTI leadership did not listen to their demands.

At present, about 5,000 employees are working on contractual basis in around 60 educational institutions of the board. Their contract period is going to end in June this years, he added.

The protesters said they had come to Islamabad after failing to get relief from the provincial government. The teachers said they had been demanding the regularisation of services, promotion, reinstatement and service structure. They vowed to continue their protest till their demands were accepted.

Meanwhile, Insaf Students Federation, Abbottabad chapter, also held a protest outside the PTI Secretariat against the allotment of party tickets to undeserving candidates.
