Money laundering case against PM referred to CJ

LAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench on Monday referred to the chief justice a petition against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif carrying money laundering charges, with a request to constitute a five-member full bench to hear the 24-year-old case.

Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree had filed the petition in 1991 submitting that Nawaz shifted billions of rupees abroad.

He alleged that Mr Sharif misused his powers and made a number of appointments in violation of the merit.

He said the prime minister did not meet the criteria of being a member of parliament prescribed in Articles 62 & 63 of the Constitution.

In 2010, a bench headed by then chief justice Ijaz Chaudhry had heard the case and decided that a bench of not less than five judges should hear the matter.

Earlier, another division bench had also referred the petition to the chief justice for the formation of a full bench.

Who doesn't know that except his "supporters"??? Watch the Youtube video on "Hamza Sharif" gloating about his wealth to a British reporter estimated at 340 million pounds while the masses at home have no chance to make both ends meet.

@syed wasim haider ... only in Pakistan.... Accusations are useless unless proved to be guilty...In Pakistan no one can prove that cos everything belongs to NS...

Writ of the state is so week it isn't there at all. A certain provincial government couldn't arrest and bring to the court the head of the milk retailers association. Here you are talking about the Royal family of Pakistan (We have two, they take turns) who do you think is going to prosecute the case and live to tell about it.

I m here a new bird,not know english very well yet like dawn news for its professional honesty and professionalsism, today we are hardly find a newspaper or tv channel that brings truths to its viewers, I think that there whole be strict implimentation of law against fake politons . thanks

There is no secret about his corruption, and being referred to CJ that will bring no disqualification orders or any other punitive repercussions. CJ don't even stand a chance against him. I'll be very surprised if CJ really takes a serious action again him!

@syed wasim haider this is Pakistan. even the SC has objected to article 62 & 63 due to vague details. our lawmakers are very clever in such matters, that is why they kept it vague, hence, controversy persists. Even NAB had given NS NOC with a dissenting note at the bottom of which was shown by M Luqman on khara such. this is the kind of ECP we have who have no sense to read the bottom note & gave clearance to NS for election.
