LAHORE: Funeral prayers of the police constable, who was killed when eight people opened fire at him in Green Town, were held at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Friday.
Constable Muhammad Younis, 50, was an official of Green Town investigation wing. He was the father of five.
He was killed when he with other officials raided a neighbourhood in Green Town to arrest people nominated in a murder case in Bagrian.
A senior police official said the police officials with complainants Babar and Shehzad raided a house, where 14 suspects, including six women, opened indiscriminate fire on them. The constable and the complainants suffered critical bullet injuries and were taken to Jinnah Hospital where Younis could not survive.
The official said police were raiding different areas to nab the suspects for killing the constable and injuring others.
The funeral prayers of Yaseen were attended by Inspector General Mushtaq Sukehra, CCPO retired Capt Amin Wains, DIG Dr Haider Ashraf, acting DIG Rana Ayyaz Saleem and SPs Umer Virk and Umer Saeed Malik.
Younis joined the police as a constable in 1990. He was a resident of Madkay Dhari Wall, Kasur.
