Restoration of powers sought

NOWSHERA, Sept 29: Nowshera district Nazim Pervez Khattak has said the district Nazims would not withdraw their resignations unless the NWFP government restored their powers through a notification in accordance with the local government ordinance.

Mr Khattak said that National Reconstruction Bureau chairman Danyal Aziz during his meeting with Chief Minister Akram Durrani had directed the provincial local government and rural development department to notify powers of the district Nazims delegated to them under the LGO 2001 in one week.

Talking to newsmen after the district council meeting on Monday, he reiterated his stance that the district Nazims would not sit in their offices unless their due powers were notified by the provincial government.
