RAWALPINDI: Death toll from Friday’s attack increased to two after one of the injured died at District Headquarters Hospital late on Saturday night.

Earlier Muzammil Mughal, 18, died on the spot when a rival group opened fire on him and three others near the election office of PPP candidate Raja Shaukat in Dhoke Hafiz near Dhoke Hassu.

Muslim Shah, 17, who was critically injured along with Kaleemuddin, 19, and Hamza Saleem Khan, 18, breathed his last on Saturday night.

Besides former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, PML-N MNA Malik Ibrar, Ziaullah Shah, Khalid Nawaz Bobi and PPP City President Amir Fida Paracha attended the funeral prayer of Muslim Shah in Ratta Amral on Sunday.

Raja Pervez Ashraf condemned the death of two of his party workers and demanded the police to arrest the killers and ensure peaceful elections of the cantonment board.

According to the police, the two groups clashed over one wheeling on Friday morning. The issue was settled but later the rival group opened fire on the four. Some relatives of the accused were picked up by the police to mount pressure on the alleged attackers.

Raja Shaukat, PPP candidate in Ward No 2, told Dawn that Muzammil Mughal was in charge of his election office.

He said the police had assured him that the culprits would be arrested soon.
