SUKKUR: An elderly man was killed when two groups belonging to the Paraheen community attacked each other with crop cutters, clubs and other lethal objects over the ownership of a piece of land in Maula Bukhsh Almani village, officials at the Khanpur Mahar police station in Ghotki district said on Saturday.

They said that the two sides had been at odds over the dispute for some time and on Saturday, heated altercations between them led to a fistfight. The embattled groups then hit each other with whatever they had in their hands. Several of them received injuries and one of them, Ameer Bukhsh Paraheen, was rushed to a Rahimyar Khan hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The body was sent to the Ghotki Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination before it was handed over to the heirs.

A case was registered at the Khanpur Mahar police station on the complaint of Ayaz Ali Paraheen against Hazaro, son of Lal Bukhsh Paraheen.
