LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) core committee member Chaudhry Sarwar on Wednesday said policies of the rulers are a threat to their own authority and that they should divert their attention to national development rather than making money.

In order to tackle terrorism and extremism, he said, it was imperative to ensure universal education. Nations that progressed and flourished received free quality education.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a football ground at the Foundation Public School built under the supervision of Pakistan International Foundation, he said 58 million children in the world did not have access to education and even more shocking was the fact that 23 million of them belonged to Pakistan.

Blaming all regimes that had ruled Pakistan after independence, Sarwar said if the rulers had given due importance to nurturing the education sector rather than making and stashing money, Pakistan would have been in better a condition.

He said the rulers had learnt nothing despite such a grave situation the country was currently faced with. It was the responsibility of the rulers to adequately provide basic health and educational facilities to people and fulfil the promises they made during their election campaigns.
