PESHAWAR: Minister for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani on Friday honoured the victims of the Army Public School massacre with Tamgha-i-Shujaat in recognition of their bravery and courage.

A ceremony in this regard was held at the commissioner’s office here.

The minister bestowed Tamgha-i-Shujaat on the bereaved families of APS victims, including Abdul Rasheed, Adil Ezaz, Asif Ali Sardar, Basit Ali, Shahud Alam, Hamza Ali Kakar, Sehr Afshan, Hafza and Benish Pervaiz, according to a statement.

On the occasion, Mr Ghani said that sacrifices of the students and teachers would always be remembered as these had no precedent in the human history.

He said bestowing medals upon those died and naming the educational institutions after them would not bring them back, but would keep them alive among the country men. “It is least the government could do for them,” he remarked. The minister said the provincial government was committed to providing protection to students.
