ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) conditionally revoked non-bailable arrest warrants for former military ruler Pervez Musharraf in a murder case on Wednesday.

A trial court had issued the warrants on April 2 because of retired Gen Musharraf’s repeated absence from the hearing of the murder case of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi.

IHC Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi, after initial hearing, invalidated the warrants issued by Additional District and Sessions Judge Wajid Ali as Mr Musharraf’s counsel promised that he would attend the hearing on April 27.

Justice Qureshi warned that the annulment of the warrants would be cancelled if he failed to appear before the trial court on the date. Citing the reason for his absence from the court proceedings, the petition claimed that Mr Musharraf had to appear on April 2 before a medical board constituted to ascertain his health condition on directives of the Quetta Anti-Terrorism Court hearing the Akbar Bugti murder case.
