HYDERABAD: The Jeay Sindh Mahaz group led by Abdul Khaliq Junejo observed Sindhis’ Self-determination Day on April 1, when in 1936 Sindh was separated from the Bombay Presidency.

Carrying banners and party flags, and shouting slogans, they marched from the Old Campus to the local press club. JSM-K leaders Khalid Junejo and Akbar Khoso led the protesters.

They said the British occupied Sindh in 1843, ended its status of an independent state and it was made a province of India.

They said after that the status of Sindh as province was also ended and it was included in Bombay.

Sain GM Syed and other leaders made all-out efforts and Sindh was separated from Bombay, but it proved half a success because Sindh had been an independent and sovereign state before 1843, they said.

They said they were struggling to get complete success and pleaded for their natural rights. Until the status of the independent and sovereign Sindh was restored, the struggle would continue, they said, adding that Pakistan was a highly centralised state and Sindh was just like a colony of the state.

Awami Workers Party (AWP) Sindh general secretary Bukhshal Thalho attended the rally and also spoke on the occasion.

MIRPURKHAS: The Jeay Sindh Mahaz Mirpurkhas district chapter also observed the Self determination Day on Wednesday.

Scores of its workers and office-bearers held a demonstration here in front of the local press club.

Led by the divisional coordinator of Mirpurkhas, Zahoor Leghari, speakers demanded the government give historical right to Sindh under the resolution of 1940.

Those who spoke on the occasion were Zahoor Leghari, Taj Baloch, Sagar Sindho Ujjan, Hosho Sindhi, Ajeet Kumar, Narsingh Kolhi, Muhammad Bux Kapri and Qadeer Hussain.
