Well, well, well, it's not everyday that a film's trailer gets enough attention to make its leading actor resign from his political post is it?

The first trailer of Humayun Saeed's Jawani Phir Nahi Aani has managed to do just that.

Hamza Ali Abbasi, who is part of the ensemble cast of Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, has deemed his involvement in the project as something that goes against his beliefs and following the release of the trailer, has resigned from his post as culture secretary of PTI.

In the film's trailer, directed by Nadeem Baig, Hamza can be seen emerging shirtless from a pool and checking out a girl walking by in a bikini and partying at nights clubs and on beaches. Very unlike the moral policer we have all come to know and love right?

Abbasi, who has always been fiercely vocal about his opinions, also posted another status on Facebook recently, sharing that he was ashamed that he "romanced with women in bikinis" and was "ashamed of being a part of this Western and Bollywood onslaught."

This whole episode brings up the question — where does one draw the line? If he had refused to do Bollywood movies in the past like he has claimed, why did he choose to do this movie? Does he have the freedom to make choices that propel his career forward and compromise on his ideals without being termed a hypocrite?

Apparently not. Needless to say, Hamza Ali Abbasi is now trending on Twitter.

Some people were unforgiving.

Others rushed to his defense.

Earlier, Hamza had said: "Humayun (who is producing the movie) is like a brother to me so I agreed to do the movie. It's going to be a milestone for comedy in Pakistan for sure."

"However, there were exposing scenes that I didn't agree with but sometimes, you have to give in to the demands of the producer or director."

Maybe it's for the best.
