ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) legislator, elected from Nowshera II, in a complaint to the police stated that he received threatening messages on his mobile phone on March 24 from a Wapda official.

He quoted the messages as “. …. it can be end on bloodshed. In case of transfer be ready for my dushmany, you know the dushmany of tribal it my last warning for you (sic).”

Talking to Dawn the MNA stated that being an elected representative, rooting out corruption from his constituency was his responsibility. “I got him transferred which annoyed him and he is giving me life threats,” he added.

The matter was brought to the knowledge of the police for taking action against him, he added.

The police when contacted said the MNA got the SDO transferred thrice, but each time he succeeded in getting his orders cancelled.

According to the police, the MNA wants him to be removed from his area, but he not only gets his transfer orders cancelled but also threatens him.

The police said since the accused was a government officer, a legal process had to be followed before taking him into custody.

However, the police will record the accused statement to verify the MNA’s allegations, they added.
