Two living legends, two countries, two awards! The prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz was conferred upon Pakistani actor Shakeel on March 23 by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad. He truly deserved the honour, as the actor in the past four decades has immortalised, through his brilliant acting, so many characters on television, theatre and film — especially in the Hasina Moin-penned TV plays Uncle Urfi and Ankahi.

On the other side of the Wagah border, the Indian government announced that it would confer the Dadasahib Phalke Award for 2014 on Bollywood heartthrob of the ’70s and ’80s and a top-notch actor, Shashi Kapoor. The actor has countless successful films to his credit, including Deewar, Kabhi Kabhi and Junoon.

Congrats to both legends!
