LAHORE, Sept 25: Various groups of peasants and political parties have formed a peasants coordination committee to launch a countrywide movement.

A decision to this effect was taken at a peasants’ conference held at Chishtian and Sahiwal on Sept 21 and 22.

The conference selected 10 members of the committee who would contact other bodies of peasants for launching the movement.

These members included David Zahid, Shoaib Bhatti, Comrade Aslam, Rana Hafeez, Bashir Buttar and Mushtaq Goraya. Mr Goraya will act as secretary of the committee.

The groups and parties that attended the conference included the Anjuman Mazareen Punjab, the Ghareeb Kissan Tehrik, the Sindh Hari Committee, the Peoples Rights Movement, the Labour Party and the Progressive Movement.
