PARACHINAR: Pak Army’s Major Gulfam Hussain, who had died during a clash with militants in Tirah valley, was laid to rest with full military honour at his native Alam Sher village here on Monday.

The deceased was among seven security personnel killed during the clash with militants at Sungar area of Tirah, Khyber Agency on Saturday. His body was recovered on Sunday and dispatched to his home village late on Sunday.

Thirty soldiers were also reportedly wounded in the fierce fighting as security forces have lunched Khyber-II operation in militant-infested areas in Tirah valley along Afghan border.

Maj Gulfam, who left behind a one and half month old son, had been injured three times in the past during clashes with militants. But, he always fought bravely to defend the country’s frontiers.

His funeral prayers were attended by Kurram Agency political agent Amjad Ali Khan, Brigadier Nadeem Anjum, Colonel Naeem, Commandant Kurram Militia, Colonel Maqbool Ahmed, Commandant Tal Scouts, Suleman, and other civil and military officials.

A contingent of security personnel presented salute and laid floral wreath on his grave on the occasion.
